79 Sigma Wagon

Post by Raptorreed » Sat May 26, 2018 11:35 pm

I suppose I could start a thread for this car lol.
I have just been driving the hell out of the car since I got it. Gotta do a ignition tune up tomorrow and hope that fixes the drivability that I was having recently (hesitation in combustion and stalling out). Replaced the fuel pump last summer and the left rear wheel cylinder. Other than that and maybe a header down the road, I have no real big plans for it performance wise, just maintenance mostly and probably lowering the car.

Oh also just picked up a set of 88 Starion front seats to replace the stock ones too.

This is Airbats' wagon from Oregon, that he bought a couple years ago.

It's a 20 footer lol. I am pulling the carpet all out as I am a bit tired seeing it in it's already ratty condition.

Well this looks so much better with the honeycomb grill. I just need to remove the filler piece and suck the front bumper in more.

I guess there are some updates,

I acquired a 78 Challenger Instrument Cluster, dash panels and complete center console. Only missing the ash tray lol, might just try to make a piece to fill that hole unless I can source a ashtray for it so then it is complete.

Acquired a Toyota VVTi 1UZFE 4.0L V8 that I will be dropping into the car soon. They weigh around the same as the stock g54b that's in the car.
Order a set of Starion Poly bushings for the front end, everything needs new bushings up there lol.
Got a Ford Explorer 8.8 as well, just need to take it to get shortened, which luckily when you shorten those specific 8.8s it will end up being barely wider than the stock axle.
Still need to get a transmission, but will be going with the Nissan CD009 350z 6spd transmission.

Will be interesting to see the 1uz in there. Does someone make an adapter for the Z trans or will it be custom?

Collins, XAT and Xcessive Manufacturing are the three that currently do...Whether you want to use an adapter plate or cut the bellhousing off and use an adapter with the toyota Automatic bellhousing negate which Adapter you go with however.

Bill Hincher has been working on building an adapter for the 6g72 & 1UZ as well as the 4g63 too.

It has quickly become the "Go to" 6spd transmission for smaller displacement than American V8s over these last few years. The cost for a brand new CD009 is equal to that of a used T56 (which has all the wrong gearing for most import cars too).

Sent the engine harness to Panic-wire. So should have a reworked universal fitment 1uz harness for my engine next month. Then its just a matter of making mounts and swapping out the rear end, then upgrading everything else ha. But glad to be getting back onto this project.

Might dig into the GT in a couple weeks as well. Need to get a 260z aluminum radiator for it.
