The 'Action' Race/Rally Thread

Post by Sideways » Wed May 10, 2017 8:53 pm

Hi all,

This thread is just for 'action' pics of vehicles being used for their intended purpose, rally, race, hillclimb, khanacross, motorkhana etc
No static shots - c'mon, let's see what you've got! :D

Here's a few to get the ball rolling.

OK - I don't know if the intent was to keep this all Colt or classic RWD Mitsubishi. I'm going to post a few of other cars I've been fortunate to drive over the years. Here is EvoEnvy. At least it is a Mitsubishi. ;)

No doubt.

I'll wait for a ruling on original intent, or if there are "rules" before I post more. I've got plenty. 8-)

I will let Steve call the rules here about brands. The way I look at it we have all driven other cars, as long as we show our Mitsus I expect we can show what else we have driven. But if Steve wants to keep this a Mitsubishi only then we should do so.
This goes way back when we could run full mod cars with no cages. From film, I really need to scan allot of slides. I have hundreds.

I am rolling forward here 8-) All the cars in line behind me are customers.

And Dan just started me.
Image

Entering Cragway,if you go off on the run into this turn it is a couple minute tumble, not a good thing to do.
Image

Climbing out of Cragway, steep and loose.

Image

There have only been two of us who could jump this corner, you need to commit your turn in as if you were going to slam a tree at the inside of the apex just out of frame behind the car, but since you are airborn you miss the tree and your landing is back on the tarmac. Everyone else who tried to jump this turn took bark off trees big time. As in did not drive that car again.

 No hard and fast rules but we should at least try and keep it Mitsu related.
BTW, love that pic of your blue Colt at Mt Washington on the dirt Charlie - just fantastic!

Here's the legendary Andrew Cowan in the original Works GTO, competing in the KLG rally in Aus (before the car was rolled and destroyed at a later event :( )

Ha, probably an inch too wide on the front as well. The Datsun SX rims which we use over here are 14x6 and fit perfectly. Time for some stiffer strut inserts

Haven't been here for awhile so thought I'd better contribute :)
Here's one from the Alpine Rally (World's second oldest rally after the Monte Carlo). Once in 100 year storms came through that weekend and it was like trying to drive down rivers most of the time, it was just insane. A 3rd of the 100+ car field didn't even finish the 3 day event!

Thanks - it's an amazing event. More than 350km competitive and quite a few International crews are now coming out for it.
Finished Fri/Sat divisions inside the top 30.....but the starter solenoid rattled off and shorted the ignition system mid-stage late in the day.
Repaired it, then fell off the ice-rink like road (at walking speed ) from the 100+ cars ripping it up.....then discovering a seized front strut from water ingress....
Fastest roads were on the Sunday so we decided to withdraw gracefully rather than potentially destroy the car from the seized front end.
Need some more pics from people, it's been a little boring around here of late.
Cheers, S

OK - I'll throw a few more up. Some of these might have been posted already. I see a few no longer are showing. First is my wife driving Sammy. Second shot is Eagle 1 (scanned from SportsCar magazine) and finally the Partial Eclipse.
