The firm, dense hazelnut-brown head rounds off the appearance and gives the beer a certain irresistibility. The aroma of this classic beer opens up a seductive palette of aromas, combining milk chocolate, caramel and roasted malt to create a heavenly bouquet. The first sip follows on from the foot and is pleasantly sweet. Strong roasted notes accompany the pleasure and add chocolate notes and soft cereal elements. There is a hint of red dried fruit in the background.According to beer sommelier Karl Schiffner, this beer is excellent for cooking and can be used as a flavoring agent for marinades, sauces and dressings or as a condiment. Our favorite accompaniment to HOLZHAUSER Dunkel is bread toasted in butter and generously spread with mild Gorgonzola cheese. Fresh, sliced figs or red grapes stewed in the oven add a juicy fruitiness, while nuts, rocket or herbs take the Mediterranean sandwich in a heartier direction. In any case, a dollop of honey and this excellent dark beer go well with it.
