According to their own information, in 2010 they launched the world’s first beer that is organic, gluten-free and fair trade. The raw materials for the creation come from controlled organic cultivation and are cultivated and traded under fair conditions. To make the beer accessible to the masses, it is also allergy-friendly and contains no gluten.There is a tragic yet hopeful story behind the Mongozo project. When one of the founders of Mongozo arrived in the Netherlands in 1993, he had nothing more in his luggage than a series of traditional African beer recipes. He had to flee his homeland and was able to bring a piece of home to the Netherlands with his beers. Together with Jan Fleurkens, he founded Mongozo and laid the foundations for the brewery. Even after his untimely death in 2003, the brewery continued to pursue his vision and enrich the beer market with the finest creations.One of these is Mongozo Coconut. This feather-light fruit beer is brewed with buckwheat and comes in an astonishingly light, pale yellow color. The aroma and taste of the beer are characterized by the unmistakable aroma of lightly toasted coconut. Mongozo Coconut is wonderfully refreshing and tastes almost like a cocktail – like summer, sunshine and an exuberant mood.
